Hi, I’m Chris Prestridge, owner of Brisbane Building Reports. It’s our job to pick up on any issues in your new home and ensure your family’s safety.
That’s why it is important to further my knowledge base within the industry and in doing so I am a fully licensed and insured carpenter, joiner, builder, asbestos remover, building inspector and accredited methamphetamine inspector.

Building Inspections Brisbane: Our Technology
Brisbane Building Reports utilises the latest thermal imaging technology to detect moisture that could be incredibly damaging to your property. As an experienced building inspector, Chris can identify signs of moisture that could easily be looked over by the untrained eye but thermal imaging technology allows him to understand the extent of the damage. Building Inspections Brisbane: Types of Inspections
At Brisbane Building Reports, we offer one inspection service that includes both a building and pest inspection. This service is transferable to all the inspections listed. Essentially, the variable is the situation.
A pre-purchase inspection is the most common type of inspection conducted on a pre-existing home before you buy.
We are required by the QBCC to undertake all of our inspections in accordance with Australian Standards (AS 4349.1-2007) but we pride ourselves in going above and beyond these already high standards to ensure you receive the best possible service.
A handover/new home inspection is recommended for: people buying a new home or apartment, people buying off the plan, people building new homes.
Homeowners usually have little building knowledge and rely on the builder and contractors to complete the building work to an acceptable and safe standard. Even if you trust the builders and contractors on your project, it is still recommended to conduct a handover inspection to ensure safety.
As the owner of the property, you have the right to engage the services of a licensed building inspector to carry out an inspection of the property on your behalf. At least 2 weeks notice from the builder as to when the practical completion date is likely to be is considered standard within the building industry.
When buying at auction, you are buying unconditionally and can sometimes be a risk as insurance companies do not pay for any damage that existed before you bought the property. Relying on the vendor’s Building and Pest Report could be a costly mistake.
A Pre-Sale Inspection allows you to address issues before you go to market. Knowing your home’s true condition is also a great way to avoid unpleasant surprises during the negotiation. There are many benefits and advantages to having a building and pest inspection report available when selling a home. A Building and Pest inspection prior to finalising a sale is usually a condition of a purchase contract; consequently, it is becoming common for vendors to have their own Pre-Sale Inspection done prior to going to market. Put yourself ahead of the game by:

- Ensuring full disclosure at the time of the sale.

Brisbane Building Reports has partnered with Carbon Positive Australia to plant a tree for every inspection conducted. BBR has asked to donate to the Nimbin, NSW project. We chose this as it is a located on a 33 hectare, high value koala habitat.

Major damage, including but not limited to: damage to load bearing timbers, structural damage to brick work, damage to roof penetrations, faulty windows and doors, cracking in concrete slabs, cracking in internal walls. Minor damage, including but not limited to: damaged or pealing paint, loose door handles on internal doors, minor damage to finishing timbers, minor damage to light fittings, loose tap ware and cracked tiles, roof, bathrooms and/or laundries.

Pests including but not limited to: termites, lyctus borers, rodent infestation, fungal decay in timbers, dry rot in timbers, chemical delignification in timbers.
